That is all I can think of right now, but it seems to be growing a little every day, he is starting to repeat more & more!  SOOOO exciting!

Hoo Hoo

Adam and I were playing hide & seek this morning...I was hiding and wanted him to come find me, so I called out "yoohoo, where are you?"  A small little voice replied back "hoo hoo". 

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Adam, do you want to go downstairs?  NO (shakes head)  Adam, can Mommy have a kiss?  NO  Adam, can Daddy play with that car?  NO  So, you see a pattern here...

The terrible twos have begun, and oh my goodness, I can't help but laugh!  Most things, these days, are a challenge and I laugh sometimes to keep myself from crying.  We tried to leave the house yesterday for at least for 45 minutes-it was a struggle to get the shoes & socks on, then it was NO when I said get a car to take with you...then a crying fit.  Did I mention he also, all of a sudden, has decided that naps are optional, so his disposition is just delightful :)

Other things he is saying "Nanny" for NaNa(Steve's Mom) and Gahgee for BOTH Grandma and the letter G.  He now likes to say "Hi Momma", which I secretly love SO much!

New Words this week

Yesterday, Adam kept saying Doggie Doggie Doggie and following Molly all around-RELENTLESSLY.  I am sure Molly was so happy when Adam went upstairs for a nap.

Adam can now NAME, as well as point to the following body parts:  knee, eye, nose.

We also figured out Sat. morning that this "dadoo dadoo dadoo" thing he has been saying is hot dog (as in the Mickey Mouse Club "hot dog hot dog hot diggity dog".

Adam and the girls

Adam is quite the flirt, no doubt about that, but he is REALLY shy when it comes to babies up to about 14 months old. When he first sees them or is near them, he will look at the ground and not make eye contact! It is like he thinks that if he looks in their eyes, he will be under a spell!


Today, we were at a local BK Lounge that has an awesome outdoor play area, I look up to see where Adam is, and he is being led around by the hand by a cute little girl about the same age as he is...he broke lose for a while and then about 5 minutes later, was being led around by her AGAIN. I guess girls DO put him in a trance!

World Domination

"Gee Brain, what do you want to try to do tonight?"

"The same thing we do every night Pinky. Try to take over the world! "

 "I ordered us the new "How to Take over the World in 3 Easy Steps"

 "Hello Tech support, it seems we cannot download our World Domination program"

"He said you have to push this button right here and when the ACME logo shows up, click on the link"

 "Tell him we did what he said, and now we want to order dynamite, roller skates, strap on rocket boosters....OH-and a bag of Goldfish"

 "Did you get all that?  Great, I would like to put this on my Mommy's credit card"

"WHEW, after all that work, it is time for a cold one"

"You know, trying to take over the world it sure is exhausting, I'm hungry and ready for a nap"

Before the words become too many...

This talking thing is driving me crazy-Steve thinks it is status quo, and I know it is, but Adam has definitely got a mind of his own...he is of the mindset "I said it once. You better have heard me becasue I am NOT going to say it again! Especially if you want me to!!!" I just want him to talk, I know I will soon be saying "I wish you would be quiet for a minute", but for now, just say words!!! Adam is such a talkative little man these days! Now mind you, we don't understand much of what he says, but he is trying very hard to communicate with words these days. Since we don't get much of what he says, he has taken it upon himself to learn the alphabet instead. The words he can say, or that we understand what he is saying: Da Da, Ma Ma, Adam(which he is starting to refer to himself in the 3rd person-when he wants something he will say "ADAM!" like "give it to me", Doggie, akee(kitty cat), 'Rady(his best friend Brady), ball, car, boo(blue), 'olly(Molly, our dog) and Meow. He has several phrases he repeats over and over and over...and we are just as frustrated as he is that we don't get it! Now, for the alphabet- he can say, or knows the following: A,B,D(which he always says "D! dada", E(also what he calls his friend Elizabeth), H(he doesn't say H, but he sees it and goes hu hu hu), K(which he often confuses with X and the arrow for the Target UP private label brand-I hear K-K-K-K-K-K-K constantly when we are in Target), M (he doesn't say EM, but sees the letter and says "momma", O, P, S, T(he loves all of Daddy's Tennessee orange & white tees), Z. And honorable mention: W-he doesn't say it, but does recognize that it is an upside down M and points to it and says Momma! Every once in a while, we will hear what we think are phrases like, "I do it", "all done", and others. Patience, I keep telling myself, patience!

Hello? Hot Wheels anonymous?

What started out as "something new to play with at my cousin's" has turned into an obsession and OCD all wrapped up into one! Adam is smitten with his cars-they are the first thing he wants in the morning and the last thing he touches before we make him put them down to go upstairs to bed.
He drives them from one place to another and then arranges them in some sort of a line...or he sorts them by size and type. He tries to carry 10 of them all at once in his arms, tucked under his shin, they go from one room to another, they line up on the back on chairs & the sofa, they fly down the slide, they race down their spiral race tracks, they go in Molly's water bowl, they go down his shirt and come out his pant leg, in his pockets and to mysterious places that only he knows where they are(he may be a magician!).
When we get ready to go somewhere, I will tell him to pick up 2 cars to bring with him-he puts 2 in each hand and then tries to grab more. He will NOT share them, he WILL throw them when he is mad at them, he loves to park them at your feet, he will drive them down your leg, he gets VERY mad if you try to put one that does not belong when he has them sorted into groups.

First REAL phone conversation

Adam has been walking around for weeks now with the phone to his ear imitating Mommy and her chatting, but today, he actually had a conversation with Daddy on the phone, it went like this: Daddy: Hey little buddy, how are you doing?(mind you, Adam is sick with a fever, but we don't know why) Adam: ah da da i sick(that's what Steve thought he said) Daddy: Oh, you're not feeling good, I'm sorry Adam: more baby babbling Daddy: I love you Buddy, I hope you feel better Adam: yadda yadda yadda-but, or course in babyspeak He was so cute when Steve was talking, he looked SO serious while he was listening and then smiled and was all proud of himself for answering.

Where does the time go?

My Little Adam, he is such a joy! Since I am not a regular blogger, I am going to try to do this on a regular basis, my friend Karen does this about her little girl:
18 things at 18 months:
1) Adam's favorite, and practically only word we understand is "DaDa" He says it whenever he hears the garage doors open when Steve gets home from work and runs to meet him at the door.
2) Speaking of speaking, I SWEAR that he said "Bye, Love you" yesterday when I told him to say it to my friend, Helen. I am the only one that heard it, Helen was distracted at the time! Adam also repeats LOTS of babble phrases over and over.
3) Adam love running and pushing his push toy and "steering" it around the house.
4) Adam loves going outside on the deck in the evenings to play in his sandbox and spot airplanes, we are so lucky that several days a week the flight patterns are right over our house.
5) He also loves closing doors, taking everything out of cabinets and drawers and turning on the stove.
6) Adam is now the one officially in charge of giving Molly her treat every night.
7) When he goes to bed at night, after our story and lots of kisses, he lays there, doing Lord knows what(time to get a video monitor) for anywhere from a 1/2 hour to well over an hour and then when he finally goes to sleep, he puts his butt up in the air and tucks his doggie and blanket under his tummy! He usually blurts out a final babble before falling fast asleep for his usual 11 or 12 hours.
8) Adam loves to eat fruit, any kind, but the only veggie he will eat is broccoli.
9) We go to the pool at least 4 times a week and he loves being in the water.
10) One of my favorite things he does, and has done since he started walking, is he will go over to his books, pick one out and come over to you and plant himself on your lap to read to him. Sometimes it is one book, sometimes it is five!
11) Adam's favorite pal is Brady, our neighbors son, who is 15 months...Adam shows him how much he loves him by pushing and pulling him over and taking his toys away from him.
12) We are working on learning the alphabet-his favorite letter right now: K because it is the letter he notices the most hanging over his changing table(he has the alphabet all over the room).
13) Adam is trying to run right now and it is so cute how his chest gets out ahead of the rest of his body so far he looks like he should almost fall over backwards!
14) After his bath, he loves for me to swaddle him in his towel and rock him like a baby and sing rock a bye baby to him.
15) His sign language repertoire consists of: more, please, thank you, all done, cereal, banana, apple and baby-it is so fun to communicate with him, he is a sponge for learning them right now.
16) Adam loves turning on Steve's record player and dancing to what ever record is currently on there
17) Hide and seek and Peek-a-boo are still his favorites and the way he tilts his head when you see him is so cute it makes your heart melt.
18) Cars and trucks and pushing them around making sounds is a favorite activity as well as climbing on everything.  I'm pretty sure his next sentence will be "Adam, Mommy said NO"!

First Trip to the Zoo

We took you to the zoo today for the first time. I was surprised at how much you enjoyed it-you pointed to the animals and wanted to touch some of them-you leaned up to the glass, leaned over the rail... Of course, your favorite part was the cheerio snack time, but I think we will have a very fun year this year visiting!

AT LAST! A few steps!!!

I told Grandma when she got here that we have been trying to get you to walk, but all you do is sit down when we take your hand(s) and try to show you how. Sure enough, she is here 48 hours, I went upstairs for a minute to get ready for my dentist appointment and I came down and Grandma says, "Come here and watch Adam". I go look down the front hallway, and there you are, holding on to her with one hand and strolling down the hall. At the end of the hall, I tell you to walk to Mommy, you take a few steps all by yourself into my arms! YAY Adam!

Our trip to the park

Grandma came to visit today, so we met the Moms club at the park this afternoon. Daddy even came home from work in time to join us. You had fun riding in your wagon, you crawled all over the pavement, sand, grass, and mulch. You sure don't like the feel of sand on your hands-you kept hesitating to put your hands down. Your favorite part of the day was pushing your Little Tikes walker/car around. I am surprised you made it through dinner without falling asleep becasue you walked and walked and walked. You are so stinking adorable!

Fling and Throw and Yummy

Adam, you are trying Mommy & Daddy's patience right now when you eat. You pretend you're going to put food in your mouth, only to fling at the last second as if it is on fire! You love drinking your milk and when you are done, you either work very hard to replace it in the circle area on your tray or you throw your sippy as far as you can and then applaud yourself. When we give you a stern look and tell you NO, you give us that adorable smile and wave at us, like we are just kidding you. Today, it was extra adorable, though, because at 2 different times during meals, you said "YUMMMMY"-of course, it was when I wasn't looking, but it still counts!

New Year's Resolutions

I'm not much of a NYears Resolution type of gal, but this is one I am keeping: I am going to write all about Adam here on a regular basis so we can see him growing up because it is going by WAY too fast!
